Jack Benny Binion (created February 21, 1937 in Dallas, Texas) is an American businessman. Jack is the son of casino magnate Benny Binion and worked for his dad at Binion’s Horseshoe, a casino and resort in Vegas, Nevada.
Jack became president of the Horseshoe in 1963 in the age of 26. Jack’s popularity grew following his 1970 hosting of the very first World Series of Poker in the Horseshoe which became the biggest set of poker tournaments on the planet. Privately held, Binion’s Horseshoe became famous as among Nevada’s most successful casino businesses. He also obtained the rights to the Horseshoe brand beyond Nevada. Jack went to form Horseshoe Gaming Holding Corporation which developed and managed several riverboat casinos under the Horseshoe name. Jack continued to encourage the casinos for Harrah’s Entertainment following his sale of the business in 2004 to Harrah’s. While running Horseshoe Gaming, Jack began the World Poker Open that has become one among the major feeder tournaments for the World Series of Poker. Jack was inducted to the American Gaming Association’s Gaming Hall of Fame on June 11, 2004. His duties included starting the Wynn Macau. He’s since resigned the place but has stayed with Wynn Resorts in a consulting job.
