Dennis R. Washington (born 1934) is a Montana-based industrialist and philanthropist who possesses, or co-owns controlling interest in, a big association of privately held companies jointly known as the Washington Businesses and, in Canada, another group of businesses known as the Seaspan Marine Corporation. Having an estimated present net worth of around $6 billion, he’s rated by “Forbes” as the 79th-wealthiest man in The United States.
Following graduation from high school, Dennis Washington worked in building in Alaska and Montana. He created Washington Building, which worked mostly on highway contracts and by 1969 was the biggest contractor in Montana. In 1986 he obtained a copper and molybdenum mine at Butte, Montana. He successfully reopened the mine also it became an extremely lucrative business. This success helped him diversify into railroad tracks, marine services, coastal transportation, air travel and property. In 1996 Washington Building got international construction and engineering firm Morrison-Knudsen Corporation of Boise, Idaho, creating Washington Group International. The Washington-Grizzly Stadium for football in the University of Montana is named for him. He also supplied the yacht Attessa featured in the movie Overboard
