Terence Frederick "Terry" Venables (born 6 January 1943 in Dagenham), often referred to as "El Tel", is an English former football player and manager. During the 1960s and 70s, he played for various clubs including Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers, and gained two caps for England.He was the national team manager of England from 1994 to 1996 (leading the team to the semi-finals of the 1996 European Championships), and of Australia from 1997 to 1998. He has also managed several club sides including Crystal Palace, Queens Park Rangers, Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United in England, and Barcelona in Spain.
Received a 'special thanks' notation from the producers of the Official English Football team song, Three Lions, published on CD in 1996 by Chrysalis Music Ltd.

With Gordon Williams he co-wrote the TV series Hazell (1978). Neither writer was credited under his own name; instead a combined pseudonym P.B. Yuill was used in the credits.

He coached FC Barcelona to a European Cup final in the 1980s, but his team lost on penalties. As coach of England, his team progressed to the semi-finals of the 1996 European Championship, but lost on penalties to the Germans.
