James Sinclair Ross, CM (January 22, 1908 – February 29, 1996) was a Canadian banker and author, best known for his fiction about life in the Canadian prairies. He is best known for his first novel, As For Me and My House.
Although his first novel, "As for Me and My House," sold poorly in its initial 1941 release, a 1957 reprint as part of The New Canadian Library series has led critics and scholars to recognize it as one of the seminal works of Canadian fiction. The dense psychological tale of a preacher and his wife in rural Canada during the Great Depression is now viewed as a prototype of Canadian Prairie Fiction.
