Nikolai van der Heyde (born 23 January 1935) is a Dutch film director and screenwriter. He directed seven films between 1966 and 1987. His 1968 film To Grab the Ring was entered into the 18th Berlin International Film Festival. Five years later, his film Love Comes Quietly was entered into the 23rd Berlin International Film Festival.
Nicolai's mother was a white Russian from Paris who married a Dutchman from Friesland (the Netherlands).His love for Hollywood movies can be noticed because he put American actors in his dutch movies: Ralph Meeker and Barbara Hershey in "Angela" and Bruce Bennett in "Laat de Doctor maar schuiven" and Ben Carruthers in "To grab the ring".
