Nora Roberts was the very first writer to be inducted into the Romance Writers of America Hall of Fame. Roberts met her second husband, Bruce Wilder, a carpenter, when she hired him to assemble her bookshelves. They were wed in July 1985. Her husband owns and runs a bookstore in Boonsboro, Maryland called Turn the Page Publications. The Wilders also possessed the nearby historic Boone Hotel, which was undergoing renovations when it had been ruined by means of a fire in February 2008. Roberts once said: “You Are likely to be jobless in the event you truly believe you only have to sit about and await the muse to land in your shoulder.” She concentrates on one novel at a time, composing eight hours a day, daily, even while on holiday. As an alternative to start having an outline or plot overview, Roberts instead sees a key incident, character, or placing. She then composes a brief first draft that’s the fundamental components of a story. After completing the initial draft, Roberts goes back to the start of the novel. The next draft generally finds the inclusion of details, the “feel and color” of the work, together with a more indepth study of the characters. She then does a final go to develop the novel before sending it to her representative, Amy Berkower. She frequently writes trilogies, completing the three novels in a row so that she is able to stay using the exact same characters. Her trilogies are released in paperback book, as Roberts considers the delay for hardcover editions is overly long for the reader. Roberts does much of her research on the internet, as she’s an aversion to flying.
I question her sales records. Is she double dipping, counting wholesale Accounts Payables and Retail AP as well? How does the NYT Best Seller list compile their list? Are wholesale receipts tabulated in addition to retail sales? Is her auditor hiding something? Has she been audited? Sarbanes-Oxley was passed for a reason and is book/chapter law, but it does not stop some auditors from doing what they want under pressure. This poster is not making any accusations, just questioning her sales versus distribution regarding her net worth, as her husband owns and operates an adult film business and their combined income as a couple may total enough to produce the wealth reported on this page, as well as pay for her distribution and squeaky-clean marketing.
