Hannu Salama was born on October 4, 1936 in Kouvola, Finland. He is known for his work on The Butterfly from Ural (2008), Se tavallinen tarina (1972) and Siinä näkijä missä tekijä (2012).
Was convicted to 3 month suspended sentence for blasphemy due to the passages in his novel "Juhannustanssit", although president Urho Kekkonen pardoned him. In 1990 the book was re-printed in the original form with the controversial lines included.
