Erich Segal was born on June 16, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, USA as Erich Wolf Segal. He is known for his work on Love Story (1970), Yellow Submarine (1968) and A Change of Seasons (1980). He was married to Karen Marianne James. He died on January 17, 2010 in London, England.

Also attended Harvard University before teaching there. The main character in his screenplay for Love Story (1970) was loosely based on his two (subsequently famous) roommates at Harvard: the future Vice-President of the United States of America, Al Gore, and Oscar-winner Tommy Lee Jones.
