Graduated from the Putney School in Putney Vermont in 1971 which he attended alongside actors Ken Olin and Tim Daly. Other Putney School alumni who went on to distinguished careers in film and theater include Tea Leoni, Wallace Shawn, Errol Morris, Jeffrey Jones, Chris Eigeman, and Felicity Huffman.
