He played college football in the University of Georgia. The Pittsburgh Steelers picked him in the 3rd round of the 1998 NFL Draft, and he became the team’s all time leader in receptions, receiving yardage and touchdown receptions. Ward was voted MVP of Super Bowl XL, and upon retirement was clearly one of just eight NFL players to have 1,000 or more career receptions. He’s become an advocate for the societal approval of foreigners in Korea, particularly mixed-race youth.
Besides his profession in the NFL, Ward has appeared in a variety of kinds of television and film media, for example, reality TV show “Dancing With The Stars”, and short cameos in the 2012 movie “The Dark Knight Rises” as well as in the television series, “The Walking Dead”. He’s now a studio analyst for NBC’s “Football Night in America”.
On February 5, 2006, he was named MVP in Super Bowl XL as the Pittsburgh Steelers won 21-10. He scored a 43 yard touchdown in the 4th quarter, thrown by fellow wide receiver Antwaan Randle El. Overall, he had five receptions for 123 yards and one TD and one rush for 18 yards.
