David Michael “Dave” Mirra (created April 4, 1974 in Chittenango, New York) is an American BMX sportsman, Subaru Rally Team USA motorist and company owner. He’s ridden and continues to be sponsored by Haro Bikes because the mid ’90s before beginning his own bike business.

Greenville, North Carolina is more frequently called “Protown” in the BMX community. That is because of the great amount of competition-riding BMX professionals residing there. In the 1990s, Mirra’s brother, Tim Mirra, moved to Greenville where there was almost no BMX scene.[citation needed] Mirra was looking to move out of The Big Apple, so he made a decision to go down to Greenville. Mirra and Nyquist became fast friends and also would build and ride ramps together. Greenville is now home to over twenty professional BMX riders. Mirra’s success has brought him to numerous factory outlets besides riding his bike, including hosting two seasons of MTV’s Real World/Road Rules Challenge. He was likewise featured in Rolling Stone magazine. Mirra also rode a $7500 gold plated bike in the 2005 X Games, crashed hard on vert and was not able to complete but, following a visit to good buddy Laird Hamilton, came back another day to claim another gold medal on road. Mirra’s first leading patron in the BMX world was GT Bicycles. Striking a recession, and unwilling to sign, Mirra’s hero Dennis McCoy eventually convinced GT to pay him a reasonable sum for sponsorship. GT needed Mirra to move to California and tour the nation doing stunt shows at bike shops to advertise their bikes such as the rest of the riders but, since Mirra felt at home around the East Coast, his relationship with GT eventually faded. He continues to be sponsored by Haro bikes to get several years. In 2007 he began his own business called MirraCo. Mirra has his own video game for the PlayStation 2. Regardless of bike patrons, Mirra has had various secondary patrons throughout recent years. His present patrons are: Recaro, MirraCo, Monster Energy, Puma, Maxxis Tires, Nike, Bell Helmets, Snafu, and Subaru.
