Alex Christophe Dupont (born 22 November 1960), best known as Leos Carax (French: [leɔs karaks]), is a French film director, critic, and writer. Carax is noted for his poetic style and his tortured depictions of love. His first major work was Boy Meets Girl (1984), and his notable works include Les Amants du Pont-Neuf (1991) and the controversial Pola X (1999). The main characters are his alter-egos (except for Pierre in Pola X (1999), which is also Carax' only direct literary adaptation).

[on Denis Lavant playing Alex in Holy Motors] If Denis had said no, I would have offered the part to Lon Chaney or to Chaplin. Or to Peter Lorre or Michel Simon, all of whom are dead.
The retrospective viewing of Leos Carax 's movies was organized as part of the official program during 2007 Golden Apricot International Film Festival held in Yerevan, Armenia.
