Vernon Steele was born on September 18, 1882 in Santiago, Chile. He was an actor, known for Captain Blood (1935), They Were Expendable (1945) and Bonnie Scotland (1935). He was married to Vivia Steele. He died on July 23, 1955 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
Chilean-born Hollywood import Vernon Steele began as a supporting actor on Broadway in 1906. He was a bit part player in silent films, eventually graduating to leads and regressing back to lesser roles during the talkies. He had, at least, a fine bass voice used to good effect as King James in Captain Blood (1935).
