When Tim was rehearsing for his very first acting role as Renfield in a local stage production of Dracula, Tim received acting advice from legendary Oscar winning actor Gregory Peck, who was visiting Portland, Maine as part of his one-man tour, An Evening With Gregory Peck. Mr. Peck told Tim to "immerse yourself in your role. Find something in common between yourself and your character and before you know it you will become your character.".

Before being cast in the part of Brian in his first film. Tim directed his "Empire Falls" co-star Delia Robertson in a stage production of "Monty Python's Quest For The Holy Grail!" for Freeport High School in Freeport, Maine. It was one of the only few known stage production offically sanctioned by Monty Python themselves. Delia played the Head Knight of NI.
