1[on New Tricks (2003)] We film between November and June every year, it's six to seven months, but it's quite a kind schedule in the sense that we get time off at Christmas, which a lot of television programmes don't, and we also, what we'll do is we'll do a block of two episodes together and then we'll have a week off and during that week we do a read-through for the next block and do all our fittings and stuff like that. We'll shoot two episodes at the same time so we can flip between one and two or three and four, and there's ten so there's a lot to make, ten hours of television.
2I love Matt Smith, he's so exciting to work with. But he also makes you feel really comfortable. Part of me wishes I'd had him there from minute one on the show [Doctor Who (2005)], because I might have done things differently.
3[on EastEnders (1985)] It taught me my trade on multi-camera, working with four cameras in a very quick speed, how to learn lines really quickly, how to be flexible and change lines when they re-write. I mean I wouldn't have had that training anywhere else, so that really just prepared me for all of the other drama that happened afterwards.
