Studies: Ouachita Parish High School in Monroe. The summer after her junior year, she changed schools. She went to River Oaks High School in Monroe. It is a fairly small private school. This is where she graduated from in 1994. She was on the junior high school dance/drill team. They were called the "Kit-Kats". She also attended Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe for a semester. She studied psychology. Susan wanted to become a veterinarian till she was 13-14 years old.

Until she was 13 she lived with her parents on their farm in Monroe, LA. From ages 13 to 19 she spent most of her time in New York City, returning at least once a year to her home in Monroe. In December 1995 she moved to Los Angeles for three months to do Malibu Shores (1996). In May 1996 she spent three weeks in New Zealand to shoot an episode of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys (1995). She was there when she has been told that "Malibu Shores" had been canceled. She returned to New York soon after that and started auditioning for other roles.
