Edward Finney was born on April 18, 1903 in New York City, New York, USA. He was a producer and director, known for Queen of the Amazons (1947), Tobo the Happy Clown (1965) and Hi Diddle Diddle (1943). He was married to Betty Bourke. He died on January 10, 1983 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
Producer/director, as well as advertising and publicity manager for the Poverty Row outfit Grand National. His chief claim to fame was giving cowboy singer and future western star Tex Ritter his first screen test and subsequent debut in "Song of the Gringo". Finney tried unsuccessfully to talk studio president Edward L. Alperson into shooting "Angels with Dirty Faces" (a story which Alperson had acquired earlier and which later blossomed into a mega box-office hit for both James Cagney and for Warner Brothers) instead of a lame musical, "Something to Sing About", which turned out to be Cagney's worst-ever film and ultimately bankrupted Grand National.
