Richard Rober (May 14, 1910 - May 26, 1952) was an American film actor known for his rugged roles in films. Rober died in an auto accident in 1952 at age 42. He appeared many B-movies and film noir-type films including Call Northside 777 (1948) (his first film), Sierra (1950), and The Well (1951).
His final film Jet Pilot (1957) was not released until more than five years after his death.

Rober died of injuries he suffered when he accidentally drove his car off a 75-foot embankment. He had a female passenger who at least initially survived the crash. In a movie released two years before his death, The File on Thelma Jordon (1950), his character was killed in similar accident, although in that case the character played by Barbara Stanwyck, who was a passenger in the car, caused the crash and died from her injuries.

Rober appeared in several musical comedies on Broadway. His first film appearances were in the early '40s. Also appearing in some of these single-song shorts were Robert Williams and Ricardo Montalban.

Rugged Hollywood leading man who did not live long enough to become "Another Bogart," as had been ballyhooed.
