Juan Carlos Ferrero Donat (Spanish pronunciation: [xwa? ?karlos fe?re?o ðo?nat]; born 12 February 1980) is a retired professional tennis player, and a former world no. 1 player, from Spain. He captured the men's singles title at the 2003 French Open, and in September of that year, became the 21st player to hold the world no. 1 ranking. He was also the runner-up at the 2002 French Open and the 2003 US Open. His nickname is "Mosquito" due to his speed and his slight physical build. Ferrero retired from the game after the 2012 Valencia Open 500.
