In 2005 Kirby was awarded the St Peter's Medal by the British Association of Urological Surgeons., of which he is a Trustee. He is Secretary of The Urology Foundation, former Chair of the charity Prostate UK, and director and founder of The Prostate Centre, a private clinic in London.
