Elyes Gabel (born 8 May 1983) is a British actor who played Dr Gupreet "Guppy" Sandhu in the BBC medical drama, Casualty. He starred as PE teacher Rob Cleaver in BBC drama, Waterloo Road and appeared in the ITV Drama Identity. He recently appeared as Rakharo in the HBO series Game of Thrones, and he played Detective Adam Lucas, in season three of Body of Proof.

While living in Manchester, UK, Gabel attended St. Damian's RC Science College (the "RC" stands for Roman Catholic), a co-ed secondary school in Ashton-under-Lyne in the county of Greater Manchester, not far from his family's home in Manchester.

He has Algerian, French, Spanish, Dutch, Anglo-Indian, Irish, and Portuguese ancestry.

Although he was born in the inner London borough of the City of Westminster, Gabel spent many of his early years in Canada, before returning to the United Kingdom to live in both Bristol and Manchester in England, UK, where he attended secondary school (the UK equivalent of American middle school and high school).

His first major role was as Gurpreet "Guppy" Sandhu on Casualty (1986) from 2004-2007, airing on BBC One. From this role, Gable was nominated for "Best Newcomer" at the 2005 National Television Awards (UK). He also portrayed at least two other characters on "Casualty," before being cast as Guppy, Jean-Claude Tournier in a 2001 episode, and Jude in a 2004 episode.

As of April 2015, Gabel has been romantically involved with his Scorpion (2014) co-star, Katharine McPhee for several months.
