Dr. Elinor Burkett is an American producer, director, journalist and author.A film produced by her, Music by Prudence, won the 2009 Academy Award for Best Documentary (Short Subject) on March 7, 2010.
Was given a nomination credit for the winning short film documentary Music by Prudence (2010) at The 82nd Annual Academy Awards (2010). Despite removing herself from the project a year earlier, filing a lawsuit against the film's director Roger Ross Williams over creative differences and severing all involvement with the production of the film, Burkett attended the event, stormed the stage and interrupted the director's award acceptance speech to give her own ad-libbed acceptance speech.
