Rebekah Isabelle "Carla" Laemmle (October 20, 1909 – June 12, 2014) was an American actress of German Jewish descent, and the niece of Universal Pictures studio founder Carl Laemmle. She was a movie actress in the 1920s and 1930s, and one of the longest surviving actors of the silent film era.
With movie appearances stretching from 1925 to 2014, totaling 89 years, hers and Mickey Rooney's are jointly the longest careers in cinema history, surpassing Lillian Gish, whose career spanned the years from 1912 to 1987, or 75 years. Rooney's 339 film credits span ten consecutive decades: 1926-2015. Laemmle's 17 film credits include a break from 1939 to 2010 (except for a video short in 2001).
