Luis Guzmn (created August 28, 1956) is a Puerto Rican American performer, who’s known for his character work. For much of Guzmn’s career, he’s played character parts mainly as sidekicks, thugs, or officers. He recently starred in the HBO original series “How to Make It in America”.
Guzmn was born in Cayey, Puerto Rico, and was raised in Nyc ‘s Greenwich Village along with the surrounding Lower East Side area. His mother, Rosa, was a hospital worker, and his stepfather, Benjamin Cardona, was a TV repairman. He started working as a social worker and moonlighted as an actor, finally becoming heavily involved with street theater and independent films. Guzmn at the 2009 premier of Whatever Works. Guzmn starred in the short lived 2003 television comedy Luis, and is a commentator on VH1’s I Love the ’80s, at the same time as I Love Toys and its own sequels, including I Love the ’70s and I Really Like the ’90s. He costarred to the canceled 2007 HBO show John from Cincinnati. In early 2008, Guzmn starred in “Naturally Aged Cheddar Hunks” TV advertising for Cabot Creamery. He also appeared in the music video “Yes We Can.” He recently starred in HBO’s How to Make It in America. Guzmn now resides in Sutton, Vermont. His kids comprise Cemi Briggs-Guzman, Yoruba Briggs Guzman, Clare Briggs-Guzman, Yemaya Briggs-Guzman, Luna Briggs-Guzman, Jace O’ Flynn Guzman and Margarita Briggs-Guzman.
