Julie Ege (Norwegian pronunciation: [j??li? ?e???]; 12 November 1943 – 29 April 2008) was a Norwegian actress and model.Ege was born in Høyland, Sandnes; she was a Miss Norway and Miss Universe contestant and a Penthouse Pet. In 1967, she moved to England as an au pair to improve her English and also studied at a language school.She made her film debut in a low budget Norwegian film Stompa til sjøs (Jennings at Sea). Ege appeared in 1969's On Her Majesty's Secret Service as Helen, the "Scandinavian girl." She later starred in Hammer Film Productions' Creatures the World Forgot and The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires. Other appearances include the Gluttony segment of The Magnificent Seven Deadly Sins.Ege is probably best remembered for her role in the 1971 comedy hit film Up Pompeii alongside Frankie Howerd. She played Voluptua, a Roman ruler. Her voice however was overdubbed by another actress for the film. Her famous punchline being when told 'it's nice' replies slowly "Yes, I know I've tried it".In a UK TV Documentary a few years before her death she stated that she never minded being labelled a glamour actress and that it had been a good life that basically helped pay the bills.Ege was twice married and divorced and had two daughters.She lived in Oslo where she worked as a nurse until her death from breast cancer, aged 64. She had previously been treated for breast cancer and lung cancer.
After quitting acting she got a degree in nursing and worked in Oslo as a nurse.

Lived for six years in the 1970s with Tony Bramwell, former assistant to The Beatles and later a successful record and film music promoter. Their next door neighbor was Brian May of the rock group Queen.

She was successfully treated for breast cancer in 1986.

Revealed in a Norwegian magazine in October 2002 that she had been diagnosed with lung cancer, and was undergoing treatment.

Married and divorced twice by 1970, she was first married to a Norwegian Army officer who was 12 years older than she and an English dentist who was 15 years older.

Awarded the title "The New Sex Symbol of the 70s" by the head of Hammer Film Studios, Sir James Carreras. Hammer featured her as a not-so-glamorous prehistoric woman in its Creatures the World Forgot (1971). The film was a flop, but Julie went on a round-the-world publicity tour and became a leading pin-up model.
