James Carter "Jimmie" Walker (born June 25, 1947) is an American actor and comedian, known for portraying James Evans Jr. (J.J.), the eldest son of Florida and James Evans Sr. on the CBS television series Good Times, which ran from 1974 to 1979. While on the show, Walker's character was known for the catchphrase "Dy-no-mite!", which he also used in his mid-1970s TV commercial for a Panasonic line of cassette and 8-track tape players. He also starred in Let's Do It Again with Amos, and The Greatest Thing That Almost Happened with James Earl Jones. Walker continues to tour the country with his stand-up comedy routine.

# Trademark 1 The catchprase "DY-NO-MITE!"
# Quote 1 Believe me when I tell you I am lucky to be able to get a laugh here and there in America, And that's a constant fight. Showbiz, I will tell you, is like climbing a greasy pole. Sometimes you get to the top and slide right back down again. 2 I think the black actor has a tough time being funny from the standpoint of everything being looked upon as 'coonish'. 3 I'm no actor. I'm a comic who lucked into a good thing.
# Fact 1 His acting mentor was the late Esther Rolle who died on November 17, 1998, at age 78. 2 Walker is not married nor does he have any children. 3 He revealed that he did not have a very good relationship with Esther Rolle on Good Times (1974). 4 He never been married. Many internet sites claim he has been married since 1980 to former actress Jere Fields only due to their convincing appearances together on Tattletales (1974). They were never an actual couple. 5 His character, J.J. Evans, in the 90's, was the inspiration for many characters on shows such as The Wayne Bros, with the character, Marlon Williams. 6 [On the casting of Demond Wilson as Lamont on Sanford and Son (1972)] "It's hard to find a DULL Black man.". 7 Was 26 years old when he started playing teenager J.J. Evans on Good Times (1974).
