Was one of John Barrymore's girlfriends in the early 1900s, where her stage nickname was "The Pocket Venus." After a marriage and divorce and a return to the stage, she met John's brother Lionel and married him.

Her distraught husband, Lionel Barrymore, understandably could not play Ebenezer Scrooge on the radio the day after her death (brother John Barrymore filled in). Lionel went to Christmas Mass instead and collapsed in the church, leading to a long hospitalization.
