Professor of Art History at Columbia University, his areas of specialty include the history of painting, especially the Renaissance tradition, painting and poetry, the graphic arts, modern art and criticism. Rosand received the 1997 Great Teacher Award, given by the Society of Columbia Graduates, and in 2000, he won the Award for Distinguished Service to the Core Curriculum, Columbia's famous undergraduate general-education program.
