Kathy Staff was born on July 12, 1928 in Dukinfield, Cheshire, England as Minnie Higginbottom. She was an actress, known for Last of the Summer Wine (1973), Mary Reilly (1996) and The Dresser (1983). She was married to John Staff. She died on December 13, 2008 in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, England.
She signed the temperance pledge at 14 and did not drink alcohol in her entire life.

She regularly worshiped at St. Marks Church in her home town Dukinfield, and there is a memorial screen in the church for her.

First worked as a shorthand typist and then did clerical work for the National Gas & Oil Engine Company in Ashton-under-Lyne. Started acting professionally in 1949 with repertory companies in Scotland and Wales. First screen work was as an extra in television, for three pounds a day.
