Gedeon Burkhard (born July 3, 1969) is a German film and television actor. Although he has appeared in numerous films and TV series in both Europe and the US, he is probably best recognised for his role as Alexander Brandtner in the Austrian/German television series Kommissar Rex (1997–2001), which has been aired on television in numerous countries around the world, or as Corporal Wilhelm Wicki in the 2009 film Inglourious Basterds,
Great-grandson of the famous Albanian actor in Austrian film and theater Alexander Moissi.

Kommissar Rex may have tested a lowering in number of viewers in Austria, after the entrance of Gedeon Burkahrd ; but, on the contrary, Burkhard contributed to make it even more succesful than at the time of Tobias Moretti in a lot of foreign countries like, for instance, Italy!

According to the 11 October 2000 issue of German newspaper "Berliner Morgenpost", Burkhard is leaving "Kommissar Rex" when his contract expires in November 2000. His departure probably means the end for the series as he's been criticized much since replacing Tobias Moretti and the producers of the show will probably not be willing to search for a new actor once again. This has not been confirmed up to now though, but it is very unlikely that the show will live on when Burkhard leaves as the ratings have taken a downfall since he made his entry.
