Fritz Genschow was born on May 15, 1905 in Berlin, Germany. He was an actor and director, known for The Goose Girl (1957), Sleeping Beauty (1955) and Der Struwwelpeter (1955). He was married to Rita-Maria Nowotny and Renée Stobrawa. He died on June 21, 1977 in Berlin.
As " Uncle Tobias " , a storyteller , he worked for the American Broadcast RIAS Berlin.

After the Second World War Genschow mainly worked as a director and screenwriter, and became acquainted with many fairy tale films . He took over the production of his own films and also appeared as an actor .

His illegitimate daughter Heidi Genée was also active in the film industry and learned from him the film crafts.
