Frank Howard Buck (March 17, 1884 – March 25, 1950) was a hunter and collector of wild animals, as well as a movie actor, director, writer and producer. He is known for his book Bring 'Em Back Alive and his 1930s and 1940s jungle adventure movies including: Wild Cargo, Jungle Cavalcade, Jacare, Killer of the Amazon, many of which included staged "fights to the death" between formidable beasts.
Quit school after the 7th grade and worked at a variety of different jobs, including cow-punching and selling songs to vaudeville singers.

Won a substantial sum of money in a poker game, which financed his first expedition to Brazil. For several years, he supplied zoos in the U.S. with exotic animals. He lost most of his money in the stock market crash of 1929, then became director of the San Diego Zoo. The following year, he wrote his best-seller "Bring 'em back alive" which revived his fortunes. He subsequently worked at Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus and had a lucrative spell in movies.
