Emily Maitlis (born 6 September 1970) is a British journalist and newsreader, currently employed by the BBC. She presents news programming across the network, including Newsnight and bulletins on BBC One and the BBC News Channel. In January 2014, she became acting political editor of Newsnight until the maternity leave of Allegra Stratton ends.
