Template:Multiple issuesEmil Maurice (19 January 1897, Westermoor – 6 February 1972, Munich) was an early member of the National Socialist German Workers Party and one of the founders of the SS. Together with Erich Kempka, he also served as one of Hitler's personal drivers—despite having Jewish ancestry.
A close associate of Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, in 1925 Maurice helped Hitler organize the notorious SS of which he became member No. 2 and was eventually promoted to the rank of SS-Oberführer. It is believed by historians that Himmler might have suspected Maurice of having Jewish ancestry, however there is no known proof for this allegation.
