Template:Multiple issues Christopher Francis "Chris" Tate was a fictional character from the ITV soap opera Emmerdale. He was played by Peter Amory. The character made his first appearance on 14 November 1989, when he arrived in the show alongside the rest of the Tate family: father Frank, stepmother Kim and sister Zoe Tate. Initially Chris was a decent man who ran his business fairly. However, when a plane crash hit the village in 1993 leaving him paralyzed from the waist down he became a much more bitter man, becoming controlling and calculative. He made his final appearance on 18 September 2003, after fourteen years, when he committed suicide to frame cheating wife Charity for his murder.
