Douglas Spencer was born on February 10, 1910 in Princeton, Illinois, USA as William Henry Mesenkop. He is known for his work on The Thing from Another World (1951), Shane (1953) and The Diary of Anne Frank (1959). He died on October 6, 1960 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
Appeared as Beetle, the first person Ray Milland sees after regaining consciousness in the alcoholic ward after falling down the stairway in The Lost Weekend (1945). Ironically, he was Milland's stand-in for decades.

Although he appeared in numerous films, he was in real-life Ray Milland's stand-in. He was given small uncredited acting parts in Milland's films, which led to his being cast in several featured parts including The Monitor in This Island Earth (1955) and as Scotty the reporter in The Thing from Another World (1951). One of his last performances was a two headed alien in the The Twilight Zone (1959) episode "Mr. Dingle, the Strong.".
