Diane Chambers is a fictional character in the American television situation comedy show Cheers. Portrayed by Shelley Long, Diane appeared as a main character on Cheers until the Season Five finale, "I Do, Adieu" (1987). She appeared as a guest character in the series finale, "One for the Road" (1993), and in three episodes of the Cheers spin-off Frasier. Throughout her time on the program, Diane has an on-off relationship with the womanizing bartender Sam Malone (Ted Danson) and a one-year relationship with Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer).

1Ms. Chambers performed in "Natural Born Filmmaker", wherein Robert W. Gilpin received a "Special Thanks". She also worked with Robert's son, Jordan Gilpin, who wrote, directed and produced "The Hole".
2The Surprise Ending in "The Coed and the Zombie Stoner" was written and added at the last day of shooting just for Miss Chambers who played, "Professor Hagfish" by Scotty Mullen who wrote the screenplay. This ending was chosen to be in the film by the director, Glenn R. Miller, on behalf of The Asylum.
