Cloris Leachman (created April 30, 1926) is an American actress of stage, film, and television. She’s won eight Primetime Emmy Awards (more than any performer) and one Daytime Emmy Award. She costarred in the 1971 movie “The Last Picture Show” for which she won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Leachman’s longest running character was the nosy, self centered and manipulative landlady Phyllis Lindstrom on the 1970s TV series “Mary Tyler Moore”, and afterwards on the spinoff show, “Phyllis”. She also appeared in three Mel Brooks movies, including “Young Frankenstein”. She had a regular part on the past two seasons of “The Facts of Life” impersonating the character Beverly Ann Stickle. Recently, she had a recurring role as Lois’s mom Ida Gorski on “Malcolm in the Middle”. She also starred in the knock of Bob Saget in 2008. In the age of 82, she’s the oldest contestant to have danced on the show. She presided over the 120th parade, the theme being “Hats Off to Entertainment”, as well as the 95th Rose Bowl match.
