#Quote
[about his school counselor experience] The guy was real concerned, he says, 'You know, Ben has a great many fantasies. He keeps telling me you're this guy in a cartoon, that you're the Cobra Commander on "G.I. Joe." Well? Doesn't that concern you?' I looked at him and said, 'But I am.' He looked at me like, 'Oh God, this guy's crazy too. He's telling his child he's a cartoon.'
#Fact
He comically scared a school counselor once while talking about Latta's son Ben.
On April 28, 2012, Chris Latta was inducted into the Transformers Hall of Fame. His daughter Abigail accepted on his behalf, to a standing ovation.
For many years it was erroneously believed that he had provided the voice for the Rulon character, Rasp in Dino-Riders (1988). To the extent that it was even reported in "ToyFare" magazine at one time. There are still conflicting reports as to who actually provided the voice for Rasp. It is believed to either have been Frank Welker or Charles Adler. In truth, Latta had no involvement with the series at all.
Was a prominent voice actor in the 1980s, most notably doing multiple voices for G.I. Joe (1985) (where he voiced the evil Cobra Commander and the heroic grunt Gung Ho, among others) and The Transformers (1984) (where he voiced the treacherous Starscream, Reflector, and the Autobot Wheeljack, among others).
Also originally provided the voice of Moe the bartender on The Simpsons (1989) before passing the role over to Hank Azaria.
He was the original voice of nuclear plant owner C. Montgomery Burns on The Simpsons (1989), before circumstances forced him to turn the role over to Harry Shearer after the first few appearances. Shearer modeled his performance after Latta's, and was able to seamlessly assume the role.
Former stand-up comic; toured in most of the United States and Canada in the late '80s to early '90s. Funny material, and a good friend of actor Stephen Sisk.
