Christopher McDonald (born February 15, 1955) is an American celebrity. He’s known for his characters as Shooter McGavin in “Happy Gilmore”, Tappy Tibbons in “Requiem for a Dream”, and Mel Allen in the HBO movie “61*”. McDonald has numerous movie and television parts, frequently as a supporting performer and frequently portraying antagonistic characters. He was featured as Ward Cleaver in the film version of Leave It to Beaver and well-known baseball broadcaster Mel Allen in 61*. In 1994, he starred in the movie Terminal Velocity as an competitive Russian mafia villain alongside Charlie Sheen. He appeared on The Dating Game in 1978 as among the three bachelors, but was among the two who had not been selected for the date. He starred in 2006 movie Funny Money. McDonald’s voice work contains the driven government agent Kent Mansley in the animated movie The Iron Giant. He also voiced Jor El (Superman’s dad) in Superman: The Animated Series and later an older variant of Superman in Batman Beyond. He’s remembered great fondness for all these characters, saying that he loved them because he was (and continues to be) such a fan of Superman and since they were in such contrast to his less than sympathetic on screen characters that he could be renowned for.
