Beatrice Roberts was born on March 7, 1905 in Manhattan, New York, USA as Alice Beatrice Roberts. She was an actress, known for Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars (1938), Park Avenue Logger (1937) and Bill Cracks Down (1937). She was married to John Wesley Smith and Robert L. Ripley. She died on July 24, 1970 in Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.
Despite her considerable beauty and gracious bearing, she was never able to command leading roles during her career at MGM. Instead, she was cast (often on loan to other studios) as lowly-billed nurses, maids or secretaries. Her solitary role of note was as Queen Azura, evil minion of Ming the Merciless, in Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars (1938).

She shared with him a passion for operettas and Viennese waltzes; she was an accomplished pianist, which, of course, appealed to him.".
