Arthur Donovan was born on August 10, 1891 in New York City, New York, USA. He was an actor, known for Great International Heavyweight Boxing Contest Between Joe Louis and Max Schmeling (1936), Joe Louis vs. Arturo Godoy (1957) and Tony Canzoneri vs. Jimmy McLarnin (1936). He died on September 1, 1980 in Bronx, New York City.
His father, Mike Donovan, was the World Middleweight Boxing Champion in the 1870s. Art - like his father - held the position of boxing instructor at the New York Athletic Club, for a span of 100 years between the two. Both are members of the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
