Coati Mundi (born January 3, 1963) is the stage name of American musician Andy Hernandez, percussionist, notably playing the vibraphone, and member of Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band, then of Kid Creole and the Coconuts. He scored the Top 40 UK hit "Me No Pop I" in 1981, just before the release of Tropical Gangsters. He produced and arranged an album by "Don Armando Second Avenue Rhumba Band", which spurred the disco hit song "Deputy of Love".
When asked about his feelings regarding his nomination of a Razzie Award for Worst Original Song for "Who's That Girl" which went to George Michael he answered: "I wish I had won. I don't know what I did right".

His first appearance in a film was as an extra for "Cops and Robbers". Coati along with other Puerto Rican kids appear as part of the Central Park scene as members of the Spanish Harlem softball teams. This came about because while playing softball with some friends in a Spanish Harlem park they were approached by actor Joe Spinell and were asked if they could organize two teams of Puerto Rican youth to appear in the film. Years later he got to work with Joe Spinell again when Coati provided songs for Joe's film Maniac.

Was master of ceremonies at the NYC memorial for the late actor Charles Rocket.

As research for her role in the film "54"; took Salma Hayek on a guided tour of Spanish Harlem. During a visit to a local social club they ran into Marc Anthony's father. They began to sing various folk songs. This inspired Coati's suggestion to have Salma sing the classic Puerto Rican song "Lamento Boricano" for the film.
