He was cast to play the role of Wishbone in the Western television series Rawhide, and he appeared in the show's pilot episode, "Incident at Barker Springs." After the pilot was picked up by CBS, Carricart was replaced by Paul Brinegar. Carricart's scenes were cut from the episode and re-filmed with Brinegar, which resulted in the pilot episode becoming the seventh episode aired.
